TCS BPO Harassment Probe Deepens as Police Uncover Evidence of Wider Misconduct
The investigation into alleged workplace harassment at a BPO unit of Tata Consultancy Services in Nashik has intensified, with authorities uncovering new evidence that suggests the possibility of wider misconduct involving additional employees. Law enforcement officials have indicated that ongoing inquiries are revealing patterns that could extend beyond the currently registered complaints, raising serious concerns about workplace safety and organizational oversight.
According to senior police officials involved in the case, social media exchanges retrieved during the investigation point to discussions among the accused about other coworkers who may have faced similar experiences. These findings have led investigators to believe that the number of affected individuals could be higher than initially reported. However, many potential victims are yet to come forward, reportedly due to fears of retaliation, social pressure, or job loss.
Authorities have actively encouraged employees from the unit to share information and file complaints if they have experienced or witnessed any form of misconduct. Officials have acknowledged that socio-economic factors often discourage individuals from reporting workplace harassment, especially in environments where job security is a major concern. So far, significant action has been taken against those accused in the case. Out of eight individuals named, seven have been arrested, while one remains absconding. In its response to official notices, the company stated that it had established an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) as required by law. However, it also indicated that no formal complaints had been brought before the committee prior to the current investigation.

Experts note that the presence of an ICC alone is not sufficient; organizations must also ensure that employees trust these systems and feel confident that their concerns will be addressed without negative consequences.
