HCLTech will purchase HPE's telco solutions division to bolster its engineering and AI-driven network offerings
HCLTech to Acquire HPE’s Telco Solutions Business, Boosts Telecom Capabilities
HCLTech has signed an agreement to acquire HPE’s Telco Solutions business, strengthening its strong position in the global telecom industry. This deal follows HCLTech’s earlier acquisition of certain assets from HPE in 2024.
Through this acquisition, HCLTech will gain advanced intellectual property (IP), product engineering and R&D talent, and long-standing relationships with leading global Communication Service Providers (CSPs). The Telco Solutions business supports over 1 billion devices across more than 200 deployments worldwide.
The business provides key telecom technologies such as Operations Support Systems (OSS), Home Subscriber Server (HSS) and 5G Subscriber Data Management (SDM). It also uses AI-driven network automation, helping telecom companies improve efficiency and monetize their networks.
Telco Solutions was earlier part of HPE’s Communications Technology Group (CTG). HCLTech had already acquired parts of CTG in 2024, including solutions for Business Support Systems (BSS), network applications, cloud-based services, and data intelligence, which have since been successfully integrated and are growing.
With this expanded portfolio, HCLTech plans to accelerate network transformation, Network as a Service (NaaS) and AI-led autonomous networking for telecom operators.
As part of the deal, around 1,500 telecom and engineering professionals from 39 countries will join HCLTech’s global delivery teams.
HCLTech said the acquisition will help telecom companies evolve from traditional telcos to technology-driven “techcos.” HPE also said the transaction will benefit CSPs by driving long-term innovation in the telecom sector.
The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed in about six months.
