Etsy continues its AI drive by launching its app within ChatGPT
Etsy has launched a native app inside ChatGPT, giving users a new way to explore its catalog of over 100 million products.
The feature, currently in beta, allows shoppers to search using natural language instead of simple keywords. Users can type detailed requests like gift ideas within a budget and get personalized product suggestions. By tagging @Etsy in ChatGPT, users can browse, compare items, and then visit Etsy to complete purchases.
This move comes after Etsy’s earlier attempt at ChatGPT’s Instant Checkout feature, which ended earlier this year due to low sales. The company is now focusing on a more integrated shopping experience.
Etsy is also testing a conversational search tool on its platform, acting as a personal shopping assistant to help users find gifts more easily.
The launch is part of Etsy’s broader AI strategy, which includes AI-powered product discovery and tools for sellers to create listings and communicate with buyers.
In Q1 2026, Etsy reported strong results, with revenue reaching $631 million and active buyers growing to 86.6 million. The company also recently sold Depop to eBay for $1.2 billion to focus on its core business.
Etsy joins other companies like Angi, SeatGeek, Tubi, and Wix in building apps within ChatGPT.
