Zepto launches a Pay Later feature
Quick commerce platform Zepto on Tuesday rolled out a set of new in-app features, signalling a shift in strategy from ultra-fast deliveries to what it calls “behaviour-led commerce.”
The company said the quick commerce industry is gradually moving away from the race to deliver within 10 minutes, and is instead focusing on making everyday shopping smoother, smarter, and more aligned with customer habits.
Among the key updates is the launch of “Pay Later,” a buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) feature that allows users to complete purchases instantly and repay within 15 days without interest. The service is built entirely داخل the Zepto app, enabling one-tap checkout without OTP verification or redirection to external platforms. Users can access instant credit of up to ₹10,000. Co-founder Kaivalya Vohra said the feature is currently available to a limited set of users and will be expanded gradually.
Zepto has also introduced “Real Lens,” a feature designed to improve trust in online grocery shopping. It shows real-time, timestamped images of fresh produce sourced from nearby stores, allowing customers to compare standard catalogue visuals with actual product images before making a purchase. The company expects this to reduce returns and complaints while improving conversion rates.
Another addition is the “Add After Checkout” option, which lets users include missed items in an existing order within a defined time window, without placing a separate order or affecting delivery timelines.
With these updates, Zepto is aiming to reduce friction in high-frequency, low-value purchases and enhance the overall user experience, as competition intensifies in India’s rapidly evolving quick commerce market.
