With more than Rs 93 crore in government funding, the Samridh scheme supports 373 Indian entrepreneurs

MeitY’s SAMRIDH Programme Supports 373 Startups, Disburses ₹93.75 Crore to Boost India’s Digital Economy

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is accelerating India’s digital economy through its Startup Accelerator of MeitY for Product Innovation, Development, and Growth (SAMRIDH) programme, which has so far supported 373 startups across the country.

The initiative aims to strengthen high-impact sectors such as health-tech, ed-tech, agri-tech, consumer-tech, fintech, software-as-a-service (SaaS), and sustainability, ensuring that homegrown technology ventures receive the mentorship, funding, and market access required to scale globally.

According to MeitY, the programme plans to accelerate around 300 startups through a network of existing and upcoming accelerators.

Nationwide Accelerator Network

SAMRIDH follows a competitive selection process to identify top-performing business mentors and accelerators.

Out of 186 accelerators that submitted expressions of interest, 43 accelerators across 16 states were selected to guide startups through structured growth programmes.

To strengthen their capabilities, the government provides financial support of ₹2 lakh per startup to selected accelerators, helping cover operational and mentoring costs.

Matching Funding Model

Funding remains a core pillar of the initiative, particularly through a matching investment model that encourages private capital participation.

So far, 241 startups have secured additional investments under the scheme, with ₹93.75 crore disbursed to date. Startups are eligible for matching funding of up to ₹40 lakh, subject to programme guidelines.

This approach not only provides financial backing but also improves investor confidence by validating business models through government support.

Monitoring and Regional Impact

MeitY’s Startup Hub (MSH) actively monitors and evaluates the performance of accelerators using both quantitative and qualitative benchmarks to ensure measurable outcomes.

Geographically, the programme’s impact spans the country.

  • Karnataka leads with 69 startups accelerated and over ₹15 crore disbursed

  • Delhi and Tamil Nadu follow closely

While established tech hubs dominate participation, the scheme’s reach across 16 states signals growing innovation beyond traditional startup centres.

With SAMRIDH, the government is betting on structured mentorship and blended capital to help Indian startups compete on the global stage and drive the next phase of digital growth.
