Indian IT Firms Generate $12 Billion in AI Revenue as 25% Scale Pilots to Production

One in four Indian technology services companies has moved Artificial Intelligence experiments into production, which is a big change from just trying things out to actually using them on a large scale. This is according to the industry body Nasscom. The technology sector is now making around $10-12 billion from Artificial Intelligence services. This is happening because companies want to see real results from the money they are spending on Artificial Intelligence.

The people in charge of the industry shared this information at the Nasscom US CEO Forum, which was held at the Consulate General of India in New York City. At this meeting leaders from the industry and the government talked about what the future of Indias technology services sector will look like in the era of Artificial Intelligence.

Indias Artificial Intelligence Workforce at Scale

Indias technology ecosystem now has than 2 million professionals who know about Artificial Intelligence, including 100,000-200,000 specialists who are trained in advanced Artificial Intelligence capabilities. Having these skilled workers is very important as the industry changes from doing routine IT services to using Artificial Intelligence to transform businesses.

85% of technology service providers now have Artificial Intelligence platforms that can work on their own, which means they can do complex tasks without much help from humans. This is a change in how services are being delivered and scaled across the industry.

Artificial Intelligence: The Next Big Opportunity

Looking ahead Nasscom thinks that Artificial Intelligence could bring in a $300-400 billion in business for technology services by 2030. This includes areas like:

* Legacy modernization

* Artificial Intelligence operations

* Cybersecurity

* Artificial Intelligence governance

* Data for Artificial Intelligence infrastructure

What the Leaders Say

Ravi Kumar S, who's the Chair of the Nasscom US CEO Forum and the CEO of Cognizant said that the next phase of Artificial Intelligence is not just about trying things out but about making real value. He said: "The next phase of Artificial Intelligence is not about experimentation. Companies now need to turn Artificial Intelligence into something that brings value. That means being ready with data changing workflows deploying securely and having governance and change management. These are areas where Indian technology services companies have a lot of experience and a strong chance to lead."

Rajesh Nambiar, who is the President of Nasscom talked about the role that Indian IT will play in the era of Artificial Intelligence. He said: "For than three decades Indian technology services companies have helped global companies navigate big changes in technology. That reason for partnering with IT companies is still strong in the era of Artificial Intelligence. Companies will keep focusing on their businesses and will need specialist partners to deploy and scale Artificial Intelligence in a responsible way."

Artificial Intelligence: Bringing New Opportunities

The leaders said that Artificial Intelligence will not make technology services less important but it will change how they are delivered and scaled. While Artificial Intelligence will make some tasks more efficient and automate some parts of work it will also increase the demand for:

* Technology orchestration

* Data readiness

* Application modernization

* Artificial Intelligence governance

* Cybersecurity

* Agent management

* Solutions for specific industries

Indias Advantage

According to Nasscom India is in a position for this change because it has:

* A lot of experience in delivering services

* Deep knowledge of enterprise technology

* A large workforce with Artificial Intelligence skills

* expertise in specific areas

* A growing ecosystem of Artificial Intelligence platforms, startups and other companies

The Future

The next phase of growth will be driven by companies using Artificial Intelligence to transform their businesses building Artificial Intelligence foundations, modernizing applications and using Artificial Intelligence in operations. As Nambiar said: "As Artificial Intelligence moves into production companies will have to bring models, applications, data platforms, cloud environments, cybersecurity controls, regulatory requirements and industry systems into a reliable operating model. The value of IT services will increasingly lie in making these systems work together securely efficiently and, on a scale."
