Google can collaborate with our skilled workers and students: PM Modi at the meeting Sundar Pichai

Narendra Modi held a series of high-level meetings with global leaders and technology executives on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, focusing on artificial intelligence cooperation, digital partnerships, and trade ties.

In a post on X, Modi said he met Sundar Pichai, chief executive of Google, to discuss India’s fast-growing AI ecosystem and opportunities for collaboration. The discussions covered how global technology firms can work with Indian students and professionals in advancing AI capabilities and skills development.

The Prime Minister also held talks with Petteri Orpo, Prime Minister of Finland, with a focus on strengthening India–Europe economic ties and advancing the proposed India–EU Free Trade Agreement. Modi said both sides aim to double bilateral trade and expand cooperation in future-focused sectors including 6G, clean energy, biofuels, innovation, and circular economy initiatives.

In a separate engagement, Modi met Pedro Sanchez of Spain to review progress in bilateral relations across defence, security, and technology. He noted that 2026 is being observed jointly as the India–Spain Year of Culture, Tourism and AI, aimed at deepening people-to-people ties and academic collaboration, including increased university-level exchanges.

The meetings took place during the India AI Impact Summit 2026 hosted at Bharat Mandapam, which has drawn participation from governments, industry leaders, researchers, and civil society groups worldwide. The summit is focused on global AI governance, safety, and inclusive adoption, with representation from over 100 countries and multiple international organisations.

In an interview given alongside the summit, Modi said artificial intelligence presents both opportunity and disruption for India’s IT services industry. He projected that AI-driven outsourcing and domain-specific automation could help expand India’s IT sector to about $400 billion by 2030, reinforcing its role as a major driver of services exports and economic growth.
